Born and raised in Norfolk Virginia D-Rummz has always had music in his blood. "In VA musically speaking, we aren't south enough to by considered dirty, and we weren't north enough to be considered East Coast so our sound is a mix yet very unique. The music scene growing up was eclectic and versatile and had a huge impact on my sound." However it wasn't until he moved to Connecticut for school that he became serious about being a community activist and musician. His volunteer work with the Boys and Girls Club of Bristol is well documented but it's his music that makes him a trendsetter. D-Rummz is one of the only hip-hop artist around who delivers positive vibes and messages through his music. The flagship single "Things Change" from his indie label D-Rummz Music Group, LITERALLY sparked an "Anti-Bullying" Movement in Bristol
With NO PROFANITY(a real rarity in rap) "Things Change" dominated the local airwaves and quickly became known as a force to be reckoned with. "The world is full of hate. I want to make it cool to be kind. Or at least do my part to try. That starts with the youth" His latest single "No
Rest" is another record with NO PROFANITY and a great message. "In a nutshell this song is about work ethic. Working harder everyday to reach your goal rather that be buying a house or in my case making an impact on hip hop. It's all up to you no excuses. The song is simply the soundtrack to your journey to the top. No Rest" D-Rummz explains. Positive messages in this culture are rare but D-Rummz manages to pull it off in a way that is so organic you can't help but to be intrigued. Refreshing to say the least. All of his songs are self-produced. Beats, lyrics and most importanly, SUBSTANCE!
