EMORY FORBES is #Flyah

Emory Forbes a.k.a. Steven Sutton was born in Baltimore, MD on February 27, 1990. Introduced to the art of hip hop at the age of 12, he soon began to master the freestyle. At the age of 19 Emory Forbes enlisted in the US military and moved to Lompoc CA. It was there where a mutual friend introduced him to legendary producer Reckah (Rex Lee). Together they created Emory's debut project, and one of the best mixtape releases of 2011, "Live From The Bottom", which received high praise from many independent outlets. While still focusing on his music, he began to branch out into theatrical and cinema performance. For much of 2012, Mr. Forbes showed off his acting skills in live stage productions. This artist is so diverse;he can be described as a “renaissance man”.

EMORY FORBES SHIFTS GEARS INTO “PRIUS MODE”

The “Prius Mode” single and music video are a sneak-peek at the upcoming album release from multi-dimensional hip-hop artist Emory Forbes.
(BALTIMORE, MARYLAND, U.S.A.) APRIL 4th, 2015 – You won’t see Emory Forbes wearing a golden ‘Toyota’ emblem and necklace. Emory ForbesAfter all, that’s not what it means to be in “Prius Mode.” Singer, artist, and actor Emory Forbes’ latest single is called “Prius Mode.” However, this is not just a song – but more a stylistic state of mind for this Baltimore native. With his new track and accompanying music video, Emory Forbes is shifting gears into “Prius Mode.” He is introducing his style via a song – all while explaining its mantra and meaning to a new group of growing fans.
The song’s lyrics tell the tale as the track begins, “It’s like everybody want Bugattis and Maybachs – I’m the only rapper in the Prius Mode.” The single creatively and cleverly compares the efficiency of the Toyota Prius as a vehicle to Emory’s own artistic diversity and efficiency.
“Prius Mode” is the first release from Emory’s forthcoming album self-titled, Emory Forbes, which is due out later in 2015. Emory Forbes will be a follow-up to the highly-successful 2011 debut of the mixtape entitled, Live from the Bottom. Since 2011, Forbes has been working non-stop in the studio on new material, as well as developing a burgeoning acting career that includes both theater and cinema. Forbes’ upcoming album will also display his multi-faceted mix of talents, which include rapping, as well as vocal performances. The CD will contain several hip-hop based tracks, yet also some selections of urban and R&B flavored mixes.
Instead of “fronting,” Emory is right out front in the official music video for “Prius Mode.” Makaih Beats produced the single and Steven Q. Speilberg directed the music video. In “Prius Mode,” Forbes not only takes a few jabs at some of the overdone thematic hip-hop elements, at the same time, but also explains why he is different. In the end, the song offers a bit of a biographical view of Emory and his artistic outlook. It’s been a long road for this young, rising artist and actor – However, he’s built for high mileage and durability - after all – he’s in “Prius Mode.”

Michelle Rose Exclusive Interview

Q:  What's it like growing up in Mpls?   Does the city have interesting stories about Prince?     A:  I only lived in Minneapolis until I was three, but I have fond memories of it.  Even now that I live in a suburb of Minneapolis, I still feel like I'm a part of Minneapolis.  I think a lot of Minnesotans have "Minneapolis Pride", even if they don't live in Minneapolis.  Minneapolis has so many fun things to see and do, and the arts are very important here, with so many theaters and live shows.     Prince put us on the map for music.  I hear Prince stories everywhere I go in Minnesota.  I've met so many people who were associated with Prince, including one of his dancers, and even a former Paisley Park employee working as a cashier at the local grocery store, so I've heard many Prince stories.  I wish I could've been a Chanhassen resident when Prince was still alive, because I know that many Chanhassen residents saw him casually riding his bike around

Den Edie Flyah interveiw

Den Edie Flyah interveiw So could you tell us a little bit about your upbringing in Ohio?  I was sent to guitar leasons by my parents when I was 10 years old. My uncle lived with us back in    Ohio then and he played the drums. I grew up with a Rock band practicing in my basement.    I did not know it at the time but this little town I lived in knew how to rock. When did music become your main interest and what lead you to take music so seriously?   When I was 13 I saw my first rock concert. It was The kinks (one for the road tour.)    It changed me instantly. Suddenly that was the only thing I wanted to do.    To this day I'm still doing it. My guitar obsession had just started and    I did take some music theory lessons as well. I began learning how to create music or write a song.    I recently worked with two clasical Violinist. A Saxsaphone player and a Pianist. The Music theory lessons did pay off as I was able to talk to them in a launguage they understood.  Being a Singer
